Tour of Noto, also known as the “stone garden”, in the shape of an eight-pointed star. The town centre is located about 8 km from the old town, destroyed by the 1693 earthquake. Its tufa stone buildings are characterised by the colours of nature, especially at sunset, when they turn gold and pink. Your driver will pick you up at the entrance of your hotel in Siracusa and you will be travelling on a comfortable air-conditioned coach. You will take a stroll along Corso Vittorio Emanuele, characterised by both old and contemporary architecture, resulting in a perfect marriage, thanks to the valuable work of architects Gagliardi, Labisi and Sinatra. You will reach Palazzo Ducezio, now housing the town hall and known for its “Hall of Mirrors”. You will see the three-flight staircase, leading to St. Nicholas Cathedral, where you will admire many works of art and the mortal remains of San Corrado Confalonieri, contained in a silver urn. Then, you will reach Palazzo Nicolaci, known as the “Golden Villa”, whose balconies are supported by corbels in the shape of lions, centaurs, mermaids, winged horses and chimeras. Here, just under the palace, on the third Sunday of May, a major Flower Festival is held. You will also visit the Church of Santa Chiara, whose interiors, decorated with stucco and cherubs, are characterised by a baroque style. From here you will reach the Church of St. Francis of Assisi, with a single nave. You will have free time to go shopping in the old town. Back to Siracusa, you will have time to see the many pictures taken during the day.
